Man arrested after reportedly telling officials he had explosive device inside wreck vehicle on I-20 W

BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KSLA) - A crash on I-20 W Friday morning led to the arrest of one person.

On Aug. 5 at 6:30 a.m. Louisiana State Police, with the assistance of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Bossier City Police Department, and the Bossier City Fire Department, responded to a wreck near the Haughton exit (Highway 157) on I-20 W.

The interstate was closed for hours as authorities investigated the situation. The interstate was reopened around noon Friday.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Justin Vansickle, 34, of Camden, Ark., reportedly told law enforcement there was an explosive device in his vehicle. As a precaution, I-20 W was closed, and all traffic was diverted onto Highway 80. Bossier City Fire’s bomb squad was called out and determined there was no explosive device. Once the scene was cleared and the wrecked vehicle was removed, the interstate was reopened.

According to LSP, no one was injured in the crash.
